James N. Aitchison

James is a lifelong resident of Oshawa. He has been married to Lorraine for over 40 years. James obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Waterloo in 1971, his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Windsor in 1974, and was called to the bar in Ontario in 1976. He has extensive experience in real estate, business, wills, estates and tax law. He has practiced in all of Ontario’s courts.

Kelly A. Aitchison

Kelly attended the University of Western Ontario and graduated from law school in 1998.  She articled in London, Ontario at the firm of McKenzie Lake and after being called to the bar in 2000 she returned home to Oshawa to join her father’s law firm where she has practiced since.  

In 2010 Kelly obtained a Master of Laws degree from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. 

Kelly practices in various areas including family law, civil litigation, employment law, real estate, mortgages, wills and estate administration and estate litigation.  Kelly has worked in the legal field for well over 27 years, having commenced her journey as a legal assistant and law clerk prior to graduating from law school. 

Kelly serves on the boards of various community organizations and is actively involved with the Durham Region Law Association where she is on the board of directors and is editor of the association’s Newsletter, the DURLAW Voice, as well as editor of the association’s Monthly Business Report. She is on various committees within the association such as finance and human resources.

Kelly is in her third year as a director of the Lakeridge Health Foundation and is currently Chair of its Governance and Nominating Committee.   In this role Kelly has gained extensive experience in non-profit organizations and their governance, corporate structure and the by-laws that can govern such organizations.  

The Ontario Justice Education Network works to strengthen public understanding of the legal system. Kelly serves on the local committee of the Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Justice assisting with the development of programs for high school law students in collaboration with Durham College.  She has aided teachers by speaking in law courses in high schools and has assisted with coordinating and teaching professional development programs for high school law teachers. 

Kelly is a tireless advocate for the rights of her clients. Whether it be through negotiation, mediation, arbitration or litigation she will attempt to obtain the best possible outcome for you.   Kelly can help you decide which process is right for you to assist you in achieving your desired goals. Kelly is aware that seeing a lawyer can be an intimidating and costly prospect for most. She will explain the law and procedure in a way you will understand and will work with clients when necessary to arrange payments plans so they can afford legal services.

Laurie L. Aitchison

Laurie Aitchison was born and raised in Oshawa. She is married with two young sons. Laurie left Canada for several years to pursue her education in the United States. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Boston College in 1997 and her Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2000. Laurie was called to the Bar in California in 2000 and in Ontario in 2003. Laurie has a wide range of practice areas including immigration, civil litigation, real estate, wills and estates and appeals. Laurie has extensive experience in Ontario’s courts and tribunals.
